parking inhabitants
For over half a century, the parking garage located in Hamburg offered space for cars on eight parking levels. The building co-operative Gröninger Hof eG wants to transform the building into a housing project, reviving the historic building to create a vibrant place in the heart of Hamburg’s old town.
Following the process of the project, the portraits capture the essence of the initiative's vision, showcasing the lives of future inhabitants like Daria, Helge, and Rita, along with a glimpse of their present living situations. These individuals are currently residing in separate apartments across Hamburg. Through their story and the initiative's tireless efforts, we glimpse a future where affordable housing, meaningful exchanges, and genuine connections flourish.
Together with the photographers Hannes Heitmüller and Lars-Ole Bastar, I am studying the potential usage of the empty parking garage and its rich tools. Adapting the initiative’s vision and using banal everyday objects into something new. Our photographs are published on the website Gröninger Hof im Blick.
